Pattern of Excellence module 2 is coming (tomorrow - Wed), and I still haven’t finished my posts about module 1. I’m sure that for 5 days of module 2 (18/5 - 22/5), I won’t be able to write anything. Hence, now I’m doing whatever it takes to finish what I want to write (to help myself review module 1 before module 2 as well).
Day 2 is actually full of games and experiments (and I can’t write about them because of IP law), so let’s focus on a few main concepts only:
Physiology/Internal Representation: We all know that the emotional states we experience decide what actions we will take. Our choice of actions will produce some result (either good or bad). When we’re in resourceful states (motivated, happy, confident, etc.), we’ll take useful actions that possibly produce positive result. In contrast, if we’re in unresourceful states (lazy, procrastinated, bored, etc.), we may not take any action (no result) or take actions that may produce negative result. The good news is our states are decided by our physiology and our internal representation. Why is it a good news? Because we can actually control both our physiology and internal representation, so we can control our states. Therefore, we must take charge of our physiology and the pictures/sounds we play in our mind (internal representation) to manage our states effectively. It’s very simple. When you feel bored, just change the way you sit, your muscle tension, your facial expression, etc. to make them similar to when you feel excited. Then you can see the result.
Modelling: It’s a powerful concept, which can actually help us to tap into any resourceful states, at any time, by modelling our past physiologies or modelling people who exhibit excellence in a particular area. Do you know that by modelling other’s physiology you can get into the same state of that one? During the program, we did a very interesting experiment with amazing results. Some actually not only felt the other’s state but also see what the other playing in his/her mind. You don’t believe it, do you? I didn’t either until I experienced it.
The Ultimate Success Formula: I’m sure you know about it if you came to a free Pattern of Excellence preview before. If you haven’t, you may want to come down to a preview to learn about it. Anyway, the preview is totally free. During module 1, this success formula will be explained in a much more careful manner.
The Magic of Rapport: In this session, we learned how to build instant rapport with anyone. It’s powerful yet simple enough for anyone to master. It’ll be lengthy to write about it here because it’s all about techniques, so I’ll write in another post then.
Sub-modalities: This is another powerful concept, but it is a bit complicated for some of us. However, when you master it, you’ll see how much it can do for you. It’s also all about techniques, so let me skip it then. (You can read about in the book Master Your Mind Design Your Destiny by Adam Khoo, or you may attend the PoE program for even more details).
Power of Beliefs: Beliefs are what empower ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things. Read my post about Roger Bannister - The 4-minute Mile or Morris Goodman - The Miracle Man and you’ll understand what I meant. However, at the same time, limiting beliefs are what keep most of us, despite of our abilities, from achieving what we really can. Our beliefs determine what we expect from ourselves and how much we get. Our beliefs can even affect our biochemistry and physical well-being as well. You don’t believe it, do you? Read about placebo effect then :).
Finally, there was a very interesting yet challenging game at the end of day 2. All I can tell you about this game is that it’ll help you to realize many things inside you. For some of us, the game can be so powerful that it’ll change our life. However, for few others, the game can be too challenging to play and win. By the way, it isn’t physically challenging but mentally challenging. The most interesting thing about this game is no matter how you play, win or lose, you’ll definitely learn something about yourself. It’s just more or less.
