When you think of family, friends or soul mates, what would you think of? Would you think of the laughter, the tears, the love,… that you gave and received? That’s right. We bond together because of the shared memories among us. Soldiers battle together, teammates work hard to win a championship, siblings share stories …
Some memories are created by circumstances. Some we can create ourselves. Here are how to create the memories that help you to win with people:
-
Initiative - Make something happen: Do not wait till memories find us. Go and find them. Think of something (activities, stories, pictures…) to make us laugh together, to make things more memorable, …
-
Time - Set aside time to make something happen: What do you think more important - quality time or quantity time? Actually, it takes quantity time to find quality time. It’s true that you will find the most memories with those you spend the most time with, isn’t it? If you want to create memory with people, take time to be with them.
-
Planning - Plan for something to happen: “Most people don’t lead their lives, they accept their lives”. Planning to make things happen will bring you the most memorable experiences.
-
Creativity - Find a way to make something happen: Creativity never fails you especially where and when you expect to share a memory but nothing seems to happen. Be creative!
-
Shared experiences - Make something happen together: Memories compound when they are experienced with others esp. with the ones you love.
-
Mementos - Show that something happened: “Almost anything you do today will be forgotten in just a few weeks”. Then how to make things memorable? By artificial aids such as diaries, photographs, gifts, etc… We all have something valuable to us not because of its material value but because it reminds us of what we have done, who we have been with and where we have been like family photos, love messages,… If you want someone remember about the memory you created, give that person something attached to that memory.
-
Relive the memory - Talk about what happened: Asking someone to share a favorite memory will lead to a rich conversation. Writing someone a note about a shared memory will create a good connection and bonding.
